Jelen Super Liga is the top Serbian football division. The two most successful clubs and huge rivals in Belgrade and Serbia are Crvena Zvezda and Partizan, who compete in the “Veciti Derbi”, one of the biggest derbies in the world.
The teams used to play in the Yugoslav league before the separation of the Balkan countries. Crvena Zvezda won the equivalent of the Champions League in the 1990/1991 season.
While the quality of the league has deteriorated over the last decade, it still remains an important regional football centre.
